The nutrition plan and exercise routine Dan has put me through has made such a positive impact on my overall health. My body fat has decreased by 8% since I started a fitness plan with Dan. I now know how to eat the correct way according to my body type, and don’t have to starve myself to be thin. I am in better shape than I was as a teenager!

Dan Melita is not just a personal trainer, he’s a life coach. I’ve transformed my life with Dan’s help. Since high school I could never make a commitment to exercise. With Dan, it’s now a regular part of my life. I look forward to our sessions. I’s not miserable (like I always thought it had to be). It’s actually enjoyable and I know its working because I weigh the same as when I was in high school and I’m in the athletic range for body fat for women and I’m 48 years old! There’s no one more knowledgeable than Dan Melita and he makes exercise fun!

Before I found Dan, I had completed a 36 session personal training package from another company and got moderate results-but I felt I should have seen more over-all improvement. When I signed up with Dan for a 36 session package, he introduced a comprehensive professional approach to my training sessions that generated better results for me in half the amount of sessions. I have signed on again with Dan because I have gotten used to hearing from family and friends how great I look and I personally enjoy all the benefits that come with being in better shape-including hitting the golf ball further.

Dan is one of the most competent and conscientious trainers I’ve ever worked with. Since 2001, I’ve had three major surgeries on my shoulder and have gone to over a half dozen trainers and physical therapists with no success – until I met Dan. He has gone above and beyond to help me reach my goals for strengthening and conditioning, and has always provided a great deal of personal attention and care. I highly recommend Dan for anyone who is recovering from injury, getting back into shape, or looking to take their conditioning to the next level.

Upon moving to San Diego a year ago I decided it was time to get healthy and improve my quality of life. After doing considerable research and interviewing several personal trainers in the area, I chose Dan. He was the most qualified by far. Dan provided me with the steps I needed to take to reach my goals and then some. He was not only motivating me to reach goals I had set for myself but he was concerned about injury prevention, correcting postural issues (I wasn’t even aware of) and post work out stretching. Dan also provided me with a customized diet that was easy to follow and I didn’t feel like I was starving myself. When I started with Dan I weighed 245lbs and in 5 months I weighed 173lbs and under 8% body fat (a loss of 72lbs). I was afraid that I may have loose skin as a result but Dan scheduled my weight loss to avoid this and my stomach looks like it did when I was a teenager again. I have been so impressed with Dan that I have asked him to help me with building routine to help put some muscle mass back on while staying lean. I am already making unbelievable progress and cannot wait to see the end results. Dan is a gifted individual and am thankful we crossed paths.

Dan is a healer and a sweetheart. I found him two years out from major hip surgery – I was in increasing amounts of pain due to scar tissue, nerve injury and muscle dysfunction. I had been through three rounds of physical therapy and was willing to try anything that might help. Someone on a support board suggested NKT and I did a 3am google and found Dan. The first session felt a little like voodoo, but with seemingly one finger, he alleviated the worst of the pain, and he has continued to help ever since. His knowledge of the anatomy is impeccable. And, after having been injured during an evaluation by a surgeon in his fellowship, I have some PTSD about practitioners manipulating my body, but I trust Dan implicitly.

I have been suffering from a severe neck and shoulder pain for several months and visited multiple chiropractors, acupunturists and physical trainers. Had just three session with Dan and the pain disappeared. He is knowledgable, professional, friendly and just superb in what he does.

I am a primary care physician in San Diego and have been seeing Dan Melita myself on a regular basis as well as referring to him my friends, family, and many patients I see in my clinical practice. I highly recommend Dan’s expertise. He has unique diagnostic, neurokinetic and myofascial skill sets that are not taught in medical school, chiropractic school or physical therapy school. You get unique expertise when you see Dan.

Dan has expertly and quickly treated various physical issues I’ve had over the past 18months : plantar fasciitis, achilles tendonitis, grade III ankle sprain, locked hip, quadratus laborum and sacro-iliac joint dysfunction, and neck pain etc.. I am now in the best physical shape of my life and am the strongest and healthiest I’ve ever been.

I have recommended many friends, family members, and patients to Dan who have had a myriad of symptoms: dizziness, myofascial chest pain, ankle pain, hip pain, neck pain, back pain, etc. I have always been impressed with Dan’s diagnostic abilities — he can quickly and accurately diagnose what muscle is dysfunctioning and why — whether the muscle is hypertonic or being inhibited by another muscle. He then expertly applies varies neurokinetic and myofascial trigger point release techniques to relax and normalize the abnormal muscle. His expertise usually yields rapid results which never ceases to amaze me.

I highly recommend Dan!

I have been an Emergency Medicine physician in San Diego for over 20 years and have been Dan Melita’s patient for the last year. I’m pretty skeptical when it comes to non-traditional methods of medical care but the results I’ve gotten from Dan’s treatment have really impressed me.

I was referred to Dan in the hopes of avoiding cervical spine surgery for a herniated disc when traditional medical therapy (physical therapy, oral steroids, pain medication and epidural steroid injections) were unsuccessful over a six month period. Dan used his expertise in neurokinesiology and myofascial release as well as strength training to successfully alleviate my pain from the herniated disc.

The pain relief was just one piece of the successful treatment by Dan. The chronic pain caused by my herniated disc led to what I feared would be a permanent postural change called kyphosis (head, neck and shoulders hunched forward/bent over). Dan’s experience in rehabilitative exercise combined with being a certified strength and conditioning specialist was instrumental in restoring the proper alignment of my neck and upper back as well as the retraction of my shoulders.

These two problems were solved via simultaneous focused manual therapy and strength training. Dan also used his expertise in many modes of therapy to approach my complex case in a stepwise, graduated fashion that allowed my weakened muscles to strengthen gradually, lessening the risk of injury.

Dan has learned and developed a varied set of skills and integrates them in a way that creates a unique diagnostic and treatment approach that provided excellent results for me. The people (including other physicians) I have referred to Dan have, without exception, been impressed by his professionalism and the results of his treatments.

Because of my confidence in Dan, I also had him evaluate my teenagers and develop strengthening/conditioning programs for their needs.

First, my high school sophomore son expressed a desire to improve his performance on the track team. He is a pole vaulter and wished to have a program that specifically focused on the kinesiology of pole vaulting to improve his PRs (personal records). Dan performed a neurological and biomechanical diagnostic examination on my son and developed a training program for him. Dan then handed my son off to Danielle Barker who became his strength trainer. From the end of his sophomore year until track season during his past junior year, the changes in his strength, speed and ability were obvious. His track coach was very impressed by the physical changes that occurred in the off-season and his performance improvement. Unfortunately, the COVID quarantine cut the season short but my son had already dramatically improved his PRs in the meets they did have. My son continues to train with Danielle as he prepares for his senior track season. Danielle continually modifies and fine tunes his training program to keep him getting bigger, stronger and faster.

Second, my college freshman daughter became very deconditioned after undergoing an appendectomy less than a month after starting college. The stress of the surgery, recovery and academic challenges of catching back up combined to devastate her physically. She lost a lot of weight, endurance and strength. Again, Dan performed a neurological and biomechanical diagnostic examination before establishing a training program for her. My daughter also trained with Danielle Barker. She made rapid, stepwise progress and was able to regain her strength, endurance and the weight she lost over a 6 week period of intense but careful training. She went back to college a new person and her roommate and friends were impressed by her rapid return to health. When she had to come home from college in March due to the COVID quarantine, she went back to the workouts with Danielle and continues to build strength, body tone and endurance through Danielle’s evolving training program for her.

A few words about Danielle Barker. Danielle is a kind, motivated woman whose seemingly never-ending quest for knowledge has taken her from, when I first met her just over a year ago, being a newly-certified personal trainer to now a multi-certified personal trainer, neurokinetic therapist and corrective exercise specialist. Both my son and daughter really enjoy Danielle’s spirit and her training sessions. She knows when to motivate her clients for stronger performance and when to modify when limits have been reached. She has a keen eye for proper technique and alignment during exercises and is quick to cue adjustments to keep her clients safe and free of injury. I predict Danielle will become a highly sought-after, very busy trainer/practitioner. She’s already well on her way.

I’ve been seeing trainers and physical therapists for 15 years and Dan is by far the best I have ever worked with. Not only is my knee stronger than it’s been since my surgery, I also look better than ever.
